How do we view communism? How do we view terrorist groups ...and how do they get generation after generation of followers? I believe that they teach hate.
So, the Teacher's Union in California has released a video for schools that is moderated by a person who played a character from that old, lovable Mary Tyler Moore Show. It shows rich people urinating on the rest of us. Would you hate someone who urinated on you?
The Occupy Movement in our country was considered a good, healthy movement ...of course, so was the initial reaction to the Arab Spring. In our country, there was nothing so severe as in Libya or Egypt ...there just happened to be a few incidents of vulgarity, a little property destruction, and some isolated violence. There was some definite air about it ...of hating the rich, but they didn't just pick on the rich, they were more liberal in spreading their protest. In fairness (or unfairness), they did show hatred to the police also, who had to show up to maintain peace at some point when it got out-of-hand. So, just hate anyone who gets in your way ...or disagrees.
When Enron cheated many people out of their life's savings, deceiving so many investors by cooking-the-books per se ...we had reason to be angry. But when our government 'cooks-the-books', and certain groups of people attempt to stand against that, promoting a balanced budget and fiscal responsibility, they are called terrorists. Yes, the Tea Party people were called terrorists. I liked much of what Herman Cain was saying, and also agree often with someone else who I think is a good leader ...by the name of Allan West. I also admire and like to listen to Condoleezza Rice. But, if I disagree with another Rice ...Susan Rice, then I can be called a racist or a sexist. And to further the absurdity that so many accept, I can be accused of only saying that I like those other people because I'm using that to hide my racism.
Furthermore, the old pattern of stereotype used to be that a woman would try to keep her man straight ...but now, many try to promote immorality, and anyone who disagrees can be called a sexist. Men are usually called sexist if they in any way give a hint that they may be implying that they are superior to women. Let me make this clear: I am not superior to anyone, God is superior ...and that is not a sexist comment.
That brings me to the next point. If I believe in the Bible, I can be called a "hater", if I quote what it says. Yes, many wars have been fought in the name of religion, but Jesus did not promote war ....and all the wars for the past 2,000 plus years were not promoted by what He said. Yet, there are religions that presently openly spew hate and war ...yet, get ignored and get a pass.
I try hard not to be provoked into this hateful game. Being attacked verbally with unfounded labels does not have any ground in substance. I agree with what Margaret Thatcher said: "I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left."
She also said: "It pays to know the enemy ---not least because at some time you may have the opportunity to turn them into a friend."
I am not the enemy, nor do I consider you as such. But, if you consider me an enemy, hopefully you will soon not ...seeing me for who I am, and looking at the truth and valuing it, and I believe that is the basis of friendship.
